About Our School

About Us
Our new journey…………….
Malahide Portmarnock Educate Together Secondary School, will open it’s doors to our new students on 27th August 2018.
This is a very exciting time for us.
Along with a balanced Academic curriculum we will also be involved in different projects and programmes as we grow.
We are to partner with Bridge21 from Trinity College in the areas of Teaching and Learning.
We will work through the Practice of Restorative Justice in our school as part of our Code of Behaviour.
The school aims to be an Arts Rich school working in partnership with the Gaiety School of Acting on a project around Inclusiveness and Empathy using Drama, Storytelling and Costume design.
Through funding from Digital Excellence for schools, we are to develop Technology and Digital Innovation through a cluster we have formed with three other schools. In this STEM space, we will establish Maker Spaces, Cross curricular Teaching and Learning, Inter-schools collaboration, a shared learning platform and possible showcases. Our plan is to develop ‘Student Digital Leaders’.
We are partnering with ‘Localise’ a Community Volunteering organisation who develop and run programmes around volunteering and ‘giving back to the community’.
Sport will form an important part of our Wellbeing curriculum and we are in the happy position to be able to have access to the Liam Rogers Community Centre next door to the school to use their Sports hall and dance studio for our activities.
Through all of these initiatives, the student is at the heart of the planning, Learning and Teaching. There will be emphasis on Wellbeing, development of skills, Inclusion and Equality, Gender balance, Respect and Democracy.
We look forward to our new journey together with Students, Parents, Teachers, Staff, Board of Management and the Community.

Permanent site for the school

We delighted to announce that the permanent location for Malahide Portmarnock Educate Together Secondary School has been declared by the Department of Education and skills.

Planning permission is currently being sought for a site in Drinan. This is very close to the current temporary accommodation for the school.

At the moment, we are located in temporary accommodation in the Riasc Centre, Feltrim Road, Kinsealy County Dublin. The school opening, initially due in 2017, was postponed due to the difficulties in sourcing adequate accommodation. More information regarding the Riasc Centre can be found at www.theriasccentre.com.

Says Aoife Kelly-Gibson, Principal of Malahide Portmarnock ETSS:
“I am delighted to be in a position to announce the permanent location for Malahide Portmarnock ETSS. It’s been a long road to this point but now that we have a base we can continue to establish what I believe will be a fantastic school and a great asset to the community it serves. I look forward to continuing to welcome our new teachers, our parents and most of all, our brand new students who will be joining us on this exciting journey.”

Says Gerry McKevitt, school manager of Malahide Portmarnock ETSS:
“I would like to commend Aoife and the school community of Malahide Portmarnock ETSS for their patience and resilience during the last year while we sought accommodation for the school. We are grateful to the management and staff at the Riasc Centre for their co-operation.

Malahide Portmarnock ETSS will open to First Years starting secondary school in 2018.

NB: Interested parents and students are requested to only contact the secretary@mpetss.ie regarding the school as The Riasc Centre is not in a position to answer questions about the school or conduct visits.
