We have recently established our Parents' Association and have had training facilitated by the National Parents' Council (Post Primary).
All parents of enrolled students are invited to the inaugural meeting of the school’s Parents Association on Thursday March 2nd at 7pm. The evening will begin with light refreshments at 7pm and there will be a short presentation by Joe Slevin (see below) followed by the official business of the association.
The purpose of the meeting is to agree and formalise the setup of the new association and to elect representatives from the parent population as members to act in particular roles.
We need a minimum of 6 members and the roles identified so far are as follows.
Chair
Vice Chair
Secretary
Treasurer
2 Officers in charge of subcommittees
We would like to invite all parents who would like to get involved to submit your name to the school via parentsassociation@mpetss.ie and let us know if there are any particular roles you would be interested in.
There will also be a vote on the constitution of the association. See here
To open the evening we will also have an exciting talk from Joe Slevin on the night. Joe has 40 years’ experience teaching children and runs parental workshops providing advice and support to parents on educating teenagers.
You can learn more about Joe here http://www.succeedatsecondary.com/about/.
This is also an opportunity for the school community to come together in our lovely new school building and meet other parents. It has been an exciting and challenging time for everyone getting the school up and running and it would be fantastic to start getting parents involved to help provide additional support and ideas on how to continue to improve and enhance our students school experience.
We look forward to seeing you all there.
