The MPETSS Debate Team is back!
Last year we took part in the National Educate Together Debating Competition and we can’t wait to get involved again this year! The competition is open to first and second years, however third and fourth year students are welcome to attend the meetings and help newer students to frame their arguments.
The competition consists of four league rounds before the end of the first term, followed by knock- out rounds in the second term. This is an online competition which makes it safer, modern and greener. Students will learn excellent oral communication skills, research skills, teamwork and the ability to think and speak on the spot. We have had huge interest so far this year and we can’t wait to get started! The team will meet in the Home Economics room at 13:45 every Thursday. We hope to see you there! Go MPETSS!!
Latest news:
Debate training will take place this Thursday 4th November on Zoom. The meetings will take place from 11-12 and from 14:30- 15:30 where debate team members will be taught judging skills as well as chairing and timekeeping skills. Please note that students will be supervised by a teacher at all times while on the Zoom call.
This is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their skills and immerse themselves in the debating competition. We hope to see them all there.
