Parent Nominee-Lisa Doyle

My name is Lisa Doyle and I am mom to two 2nd year students, Helena and Hugo. Whilst working in Operations Management over a 13-year period, I also trained and volunteered as a mentor with The National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA). In 2018, I returned to learning and qualified as a teacher in Adult and Further Education. I now teach part-time on Post Leaving Cert (PLC) courses in Coláiste Dhúlaigh College of Further Education in Coolock. I am privileged to be part of a vibrant, diverse and multicultural learning community.

I am passionate about social justice. In particular, I am passionate about access to education for all. I believe that a post-primary education should not focus solely on the curriculum and the leaving certificate examination, but equally should facilitate the learning of important skills for life, both during and after secondary school such as staying safe and well, being confident and resilient, and showing respect, kindness and empathy toward others.

I believe that a positive and happy learning experience in secondary school can empower our children to discover and reach their full potential, whatever this might be for each of them. I would be delighted to bring this energy to the board on behalf of all parents to further enhance our school community.

Thanks for posting!

Lisa Doyle

Parent Nominee-Ronan Kelly

Hi, my name is Ronan Kelly, and I've been a parents' representative on the BOM for MPETSS since the school first opened in 2018. I have two boys currently in the school, 1 in TY and 1 in 2nd year. The school has had a very interesting first 4 years from its first year in the Riasc centre, the move to the current temporary prefabs and finally to getting phase 1 of their permanent build in development. I take pride in having been on a board that has pushed for progress and improvements at every step along the way.

I've worked in Software Development for over 20 years and I currently head the mobile development messaging group in Synchronoss Technologies Ireland. I also mentor in CoderDojo and believe that STEM will play a critical role in the future of our children. I'm a firm believer in the Educate Together ethos and I'm proud to see how my sons have developed in the years that they've been in MPETSS. If I'm elected back to the board for another 3 years I will continue to be a voice for all parents at board meetings, and I'll continue to assist the board in any way that I can.

Regards,

Ronan.

Suzanne Young

My name is Suzanne Young and I live in Donabate. I am a qualified accountant and physical therapist. I have two children in the school Tara 3rd year and the Lily in 1st year. I have been a supporter of the Educate Together schools since 2011 when my eldest started school in the Donabate/Portrane Educate Together Primary school. I volunteered much of my time in any way I could to support them over the years. I believe strongly in the Educate Together ethos and its dedication to equality and democracy.

The school is entering a new phase of its growth with a new school building next year which is great, but it will also provide some practical and logistical challenges for the school administration. I am extremely invested in making the school a success and the transition to a fully permanent location as seamless as possible.

Covid has made creating a real school community very challenging, but with the restrictions easing and a new building on its way, hopefully that will change. I would love to see a properly established Parent Teacher Association; some more extra-curricular activities and the setup of sports teams should hopefully be possible soon.

I would like to offer my time as nominee to help where I can.
