History Day in MPETSS
January 14th 2022
We are delighted to announce our upcoming History day.
Thank you so much to our five guest speakers who have volunteered to visit us. They will spend some time telling us about themselves and giving a talk on a particular area of specialism to them.
See our illustrious line up below:
- Richard Moore
Derry/Troubles in Northern Ireland.
Director of the Derry-based charity Children in Crossfire. Who was blinded as a 10 year old boy in 1972 during the Northern Ireland conflict. Richard visits schools to talk about his experience and the impact of war on Children.
- Professor William Mulligan, UCD
Hitler’s last testament
- Ivar Mc Grath, Associate Professor, UCD
Ireland in the 1770’s-Penal Laws
- Nikolah Gilligan, PhD student, UCD Department of Archaeology.
Studies in Archaeology.
- Dr Christopher Farrell, Assistant Professor, UCD
Julius Caesar and Rome.
This is a wonderful beginning of what we hope will be an ongoing collaboration between UCD History and Archaeology Departments and MPETSS.
The day will involve whole school participation via a whole school History Quiz and our guests will visit a class group each, to give talks on their specialist subjects. This will be wonderful from the perspective of our Classics, History, Ethical Education and CSPE students and also a bonus for interested staff!
