Get Going-Get Going with Rowing Ireland

Transition Year students are completing the Get Going Get Rowing programme endorsed by Rowing Ireland. Aoife Byrne the Programme coordinator for Rowing Ireland delivered a 4 hour coaching workshop during the TY PE sessions. Four concept 2 rowing machines were loaned to the school for the duration of the course.

During the programme, the TY students have learnt how to set up and pack away the rowing equipment safely, how to perform a correct and efficient rowing technique, how to program the rowing machine computer for different workouts/challenges and have also organised and planned rowing activities and challenges for the First Year coaching sessions.

A number of the Transition Year students have been delivering and leading rowing lessons to the current First Year students. The First Years are being put to the test with a number of different challenges and rowing activities.

Well done to all the TY students who are involved in the excellent programme!
